Leather and Leather Dyeing

This course will explore the proprieties of natural/undyed bookbinding leather to help you discover why it is such a wonderful material for applying dyes. We will be experimenting with various decorative techniques to better understand these proprieties. Whether you are design bookbinder or book conservator-restorer this course offers fundamental knowledge and skills in dyeing leather for bookbinding. By the end of the course you will have created a marvellous collection of dyed leather samples which you will be able to use as a reference for your own dyeing experiments at home or at work.
