Goals/Visions
The centro del bel libro ascona wants to appeal to people who are passionate about bookbinding and design and the medium paper. The aim is to promote creativity, to learn old and new techniques, and to provide a platform for mutual exchange.
In the field of bookbinding and design, works of art arise through the connection with the traditional book and the medium of paper. In the field of paper and book restoration, the focus is on continued development and with an eye towards the newest scientific trends.

Mission

1. Organisation
Under the name "centro del bel libro ascona" (hereinafter referred to as "centro") there is an association as outlined in Article 60 ff of the Civil Code. In order to achieve its purpose, it leads a permanent continuing education school in Ascona (hereinafter referred to as "school"). To secure financial needs there is a foundation Centro del Bel Libro Ascona (hereinafter referred to as "foundation").

2. Mission and Goals
The centro promotes the creative handling of the medium of paper, the design and craft of bookbinding and all the associated techniques. There is a permanent continuing education school with the areas of "Bookbinding & Design" and "Book & Paper Restoration". In addition to the tradition of past binding and finishing techniques, the school develops modern hand bookbinding methods and restores paper and books. The centro organizes courses, lectures and practical seminars. In addition, it organizes competitions and exhibitions.
The Centro supports the professional associations in the training and continued education of professionals in the hand bookbinding field and conveys the appropriate handicraft techniques to other interested parties.

3. Basic status
All persons involved in the centro, irrespective of their origin, gender or other conditions, are offered the best possible conditions for their own development.

4. Cooperation
The relationship of the centro to all contact groups is a partnership. It maintains a cooperative and participatory leadership style. It works with objectives and concepts and creates prerequisites for the effective implementation of the jointly formulated objectives.

5. Employees
All employees in the school are professionals who are trained in design and craftsmanship as well as in book restoration. The emphasis is placed on professional and human development as well as on sound expertise. Competencies are delegated as much as possible and there will be room for independent and creative development.

6. Financing
The centro is financed mainly by tuition fees, membership and patron contributions. Federal support, subvention from the Canton Ticino and support from the foundation see to the fact that no one is excluded from attending the training courses for economic reasons.

7. Public relations
The centro maintains active contact with many interested groups and to the general public. It promotes cooperation with experts, technical institutions and other bodies. It regularly communicates its offerings through various media channels and periodically informs about activities and innovations.

8. Quality
The Centro fulfils its mission in a needs-based, effective and economical way. The quality of its services is systematically checked. It recognizes and responds to changing needs and promotes further development.
