Roger Green
Professional training, career
Roger Green, born in London, is an English/German bookbinder, artist, photographer, teacher, writer, and poet. He first received a degree (BA Hons) in Psychology from the University of Sussex, before studying Bookbinding under Faith Shannon at the Art College in Brighton, where he was self-employed as a bookbinder for 3 years.
Current position
In 1989 he moved to Wuppertal, Germany, where he has since been running his own bindery.
Area of Speciality
He has mainly concentrated on fine and designer bindings, book restoration, box making and limited edition work. Many of his designer bindings are owned by collectors across Europe.
Further information
He has written a book on box making, ‘A Comprehensive Guide to Box Making’, and one about his designer bindings, ‘50 Bindings’. Both sell worldwide. He has also written many articles on a range of bookbinding and box making themes, which have been published in the Society of Bookbinders magazine, Guild of Book Workers Journal, and particularly, in the French magazine, Art et Métiers du Livre.
