This course is a playful, experimental, but also practical exploration of books with VOLUME. What are books with volume, you may wonder? For starters, you can imagine a conventional album, a bound book consisting of blank pages intended for storing or displaying images, photos, etc.. In the case of an album, the objective is to build a structure that can accommodate the added volume of material the user will place inside. There are many ways of approaching this challenge and we will explore a number of them during the course.

Anyone who works with books is regularly confronted with all kinds of damage and wear. This damage often requires fast and effective treatment so that a book can be made useable again. This course, which is aimed at librarians or archivists, will give you an insight into the world of book and paper repairs and will provide you with practical approaches and tips and tricks that are easy to apply.

This is box making done a little differently and taken a step beyond the norm.
For experienced box makers, this workshop will give you some new tricks and techniques to incorporate into your work. We will take non-standard approaches to constructing standard box shapes. And, we will introduce some non-standard shapes into your box making repertoire.

This course is the second part of the well-loved topic 'Ten clever book structures.'
Another five techniques - contemporary, simple, and original - will be studied and realized in these three days. The main focus is the technical knowledge behind the precise construction of these binding styles. We will also encourage freedom for discovery and development of our own creativity.
